Christmas was a few days ago and our U.S. Congress is worried about how terrorists are treated. On the news 50 people have been killed by terrorists in the past week in another country. Our Congress considers the treatment of terrorists inhumane, not considering them murdering people every day as inhumane treatment My husband and I have had the flu and are very sick, yet our Congress does not consider getting unwanted calls all day long, early in the morning and after nine at night from someone we do not want to talk to, as inhumane treatment! How many people out there consider this inhumane treatment, invading their lives on a daily basis with unwanted calls? If they intend to stop the way terrorists are treated when trying to get information out of them as to where the next group of people are going to be murdered, then surely they can stop the inhumane treatment we suffer every day of our lives with these unwanted telephone calls Congress has allowed to come into our home. ...more

SEBRING — With songs, a poem and words of appreciation, Fred Wild Elementary School students honored and thanked our U.S. military veterans. Theresa Whidden's first-grade class recited a poem Friday that was composed by Whidden, which said in part: "On Veterans Day, we would like to say. With pride-filled hearts, thank you to the veterans who have done their part to keep us safe, to keep us free. Without their courage life as we know it might not be." World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired Cmdr. Sgt. Maj. Harold Linville told the students after Germany's defeat, he was going to be moved from the European theater to the war effort against Japan. But before his deployment, the United States dropped atomic bombs on two cities in Japan ending the war. ...more
