Regarding "A Nation's Reflections" (front page, Sept. 12): As I prepared to go through security in the Kansas City International Airport, I was somewhat surprised to see the TSA agents close a glass door behind me, lock it and address the attention of myself and four others who had just had our IDs checked to a representative on the other side of the scanner. Regarding "In Tampa, Clinton Bypasses Palin Questions" (front page, Sept. 9): I wanted to applaud Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for taking the high road during her recent visit to the Tampa area, unlike most prominent Democrats and the majority of the press and print media concerning Governor Sarah Palin. In reading "Tax 'Mess' Muddles Short Sales Of Homes" (front page, Aug. 13), it appears this is a great opportunity for our legislators to shine and come up with a common-sense solution. At issue here is whether the document stamps apply to a mortgage balance or the final selling price of the house in a short sale, where the mortgage lender accepts less for the house than what is owed. ...more
