SEBRING — In practice, when Sam Robinson works on his running teardrop floater, he makes sure everyone knows whose style he's emulating. LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid football was back to full force, but even that wasn't enough to stop Butch Moore. The Bishop Verot quarterback threw two touchdown passes to Garrett Redden, converted two onside kicks and booted a 37-yard field goal to lead the Vikings to a 31-0 victory over Lake Placid in Class 2A-District 5 action at Roger Scarborough Memorial Field. Moore, a senior, completed 11 of 20 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns and played a major role in the frenzied final 1:01 of the first half, booting an onside kick to give Bishop Verot two quick scores before the half. ...more

LAKE PLACID –– Defending the Class 3A-District 10 championship has been a motivating factor all season for the Lake Placid High School volleyball team. After rolling through the regular season with an impressive 14-3 overall record, including 6-0 in district play, the No. 1 seeded Green Dragons begin defense of their title tonight with a home match against No. 4 seed Mulberry. A win against the Panthers moves Lake Placid into Thursday night's district final against the winner of tonight's other semifinal between No. 2 seed Frostproof and third-seed McKeel Academy.
