Although there are many reasons for this sad situation, one clearly stands above all others; that is, we simply cannot believe much of the garbage we are being fed daily by our administration, our Congress and by many of their allies in the media. I live in a deed-restricted town home community and have a neighbor who thinks the county's right of way is her personal property. She will not allow me to put out my trash bags for pickup and throws my garbage and yard waste onto my driveway when I do. The association, various police officers, and waste removal service representatives have all spoken to her about this, and yet she refuses to allow me to utilize this service area. In 2006 Hillsborough County commissioners spent $170,000 to terminate a golf range's lease on the Linebaugh Avenue County Northwest Landfill to hasten development of another solid waste transfer station.
