Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla "pirates" disembarked from their ship/float Tuesday afternoon at downtown's Lykes Gaslight Park and demanded to speak with Mayor Pam Iorio. "Where's the mayor? We want the mayor!" the pirates said. Pirates led Iorio to the park from Tampa City Hall, across Kennedy Boulevard. The mayor refused to hand over the city to the pirates as a crowd of onlookers took photographs, shot video and collected beads and plastic swords from the pirates. ...more

Sea life was split Tuesday on who will win the Super Bowl, as manatee Buffett picked the Pittsburgh Steelers by a nose and Shelley the sea turtle decided those same Steelers would get shelled. Today, four-legged football experts from the Tampa Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will take a crack at sniffing out a winner. ...more

Bogo has a face not just a mother could love. The puppy's face captured Karen Loy when she saw the 10-week-old mix of St. Bernard and shar pei mix online Wednesday. She came to adopt Bogo today at an adoption event going on until 2 p.m. at Lykes Gaslight Park. The park is at Franklin Street and Kennedy Boulevard in downtown Tampa. ...more
