As progressive as the city of St. Petersburg is, it's mind-boggling that it is the largest municipality in Florida not offering residents and businesses curbside pickup of recyclable materials. On behalf of the Family Readiness Group of the Bravo Battery National Guard unit in Avon Park, and the group Touched By Angels, we would like to extend our gratitude to all of those who donated to our fundraiser yard sale which was held at the armory on Sept. 19. Many people within our community graciously donated items they no longer needed to help our soldiers during the upcoming Christmas holiday. Not only did we receive donations of goods for the yard sale, but also monetary donations as well. There were quite a few people who weren't aware of the situation our local guardsmen are in and were more than happy to donate to such a good cause. ...more
