Luckily, one of the boxes on top included the new football jerseys. The Steinbrenner Warriors' colors are blue and gold and because the logo is a lightning bolt, the football jerseys resemble that of the NFL's San Diego Chargers. Looks pretty cool. What do you all think? Henderson said the team should be able to practice on the main field today, using the brand new equipment that arrived by the truck-load last week. The team has been conditioning at Martinez Middle school (next to the high school) and open the season against Strawberry Crest, which also opens later this month. ...more

So much for the hybrid football plan. Because of extensive travel within the plan, the Florida High School Athletic Association made a unanimous decision to change back to a 16-district format for each classification. Thus, only the district champion and runner-up will advance to the postseason. These assignments go into effect fcor the 2009 football season. ...more
