I've been reading the newspapers and watching the news reports on TV about President Obama and his stimulus package. Everyone who is against the plan seems to have forgotten why we're in the position we're in now, but no one wants to put the blame where it really is. ...more

I am an 83-year-old man who proudly served my country for the latter part of World War II and also the Korean War. I believe that the generation before mine was every bit as good as mine, maybe even better. There are not too many of my generation left and almost none from the generation before us. I am not sure that I thoroughly understand the meaning of "the greatest generation" but I do know they are referring to my generation and for this I am grateful. Why was this not considered a problem when they planned the construction of the Sebring Parkway? Now I don't live in this area but I do have children that live in the area and I pray to God nothing ever happens to one of them where they need emergency care and it's delayed because they're shut off from the most direct route to the hospital. It didn't take the county long to tear up Kenilworth Boulevard and have it back in operation, but Highlands Avenue that leads into the Washington Heights area has been shut down for months, maybe even close to a year. ...more

Mr. Watson's recent letter just typifies the liberal mindset with which we are so grievously afflicted. I suppose it is perfectly appropriate to vilify and demonize our president for the past eight years and to trash and ridicule the decent and honorable American citizen, Sarah Palin, but God forbid that we should say anything negative about the Democratic "Messiah." ...more
