The fact that the county commissioners do not want to require the E-Verify system for workers-employees of county related contracts is wrong. Labor is a huge disappointment to me in light of all the illegal immigrants who are knowingly employed in our county as well as our state and country at large. Today I received a letter from someone who calls herself Abbie. I believe this is the second letter I've gotten from the mysterious Abbie. I suppose Abbie was upset about something I wrote to the Editor. At any rate, Abbie didn't bother to give me her return address; perhaps she had not the courage to do so. A five-day effort by law enforcement to target fugitive aliens has resulted in 110 arrests, including 11 in Tampa. The operation was organized by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, and was aimed at illegal immigrants who ignored orders to leave the country.
