Mr Lensis's letter defended Limbaugh's comment that he wants Obama to fail. I'm sorry Mr. Lensis, but no matter how you twist it, how you "rephrase" it, or how people wiggle it around, we all know what Rush said and what he meant. He wanted Obama's policies to fail — which can only mean that the U.S. would go into a depression! And contrary to what you said — I have listened to Rush. I first started listening years ago when he first hit the air waves. Being analytical in nature and a talk radio/news junkie it didn't take long before I noticed that Rush was not quite telling the whole story on many things. He routinely takes statements out of context to push his radical right-wing spin on things. The last straw for me was one lunch hour, on the noon day TV news, I watched a fellow make a statement about something in an interview. Less than an hour later, I heard Rush "quote" this same fellow. Rush left about half the fellow's statement out, which changed the whole meaning. I realized at that point I was being "conned" by Rush. ...more

Loss Of Ruth's Wit While I am truly sorry that the Tampa Tribune is experiencing such trying times, this latest job cut involving Daniel Ruth is just about the last straw. One of my favorite songs has always been Merle Haggard's "The Fighting Side of Me," in which the country legend sings about the hippie protestors whose politics got on his "fighting side." Recently, my "fighting side" was riled up when I heard of the controversy over the new Ben Stiller comedy, "Tropic Thunder," in which the word "retard" is repeatedly used so as to further ridicule the developmentally disabled. For many, this was the last straw in a history of hurtful insults. ...more
