The Tampa Bay Buccaneers turned back the clock Friday, a day ahead of when they were to open training camp for the upcoming football season. Four current players donned throwback jerseys from the team's inaugural season in 1976, when the Bucs went 0-14 and often were the laughingstock of the league. The orange jerseys will be worn during the Nov. 8 home game against Green Bay. Training camp kicks off today with two practices - one at 10:15 a.m. at One Buc Place that only fans with tickets can attend and then a 6:45 p.m. practice at Raymond James Stadium for which no ticket is required. ...more

Oh, for it to be 2002 and early 2003 again. Our Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their division, manhandled San Francisco in a divisional playoff game and then closed Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia by beating the Eagles for the NFC Championship. ...more

Jim Schwartz insisted he loves challenges. Well, he's got one. The Detroit Lions, the NFL's first 0-16 team, agreed Thursday on a four-year deal with Schwartz to make him their next coach. The former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator will be introduced at a Friday news conference at Ford Field, where Detroit lost its home games last year by an average of 21.4 points to break another dubious league record.
