RUSKIN — The Lennard football team didn't have high expectations heading into this season. A first-year program at a second-year school, the Longhorns simply hoped to compete in their University of Texas-inspired uniforms this season, let alone pick up a victory or two. THE DIFFERENCE: With four minutes left in the first half, Lake Placid junior Zack Campbell picked off a pass from quarterback Andrew Burdick and ran it 36 yards to the Lennard 40-yard line. On the tackle, Longhorn defenders caused a fumble, and the Longhorns proceeded with a drive that was capped by a 11-yard touchdown catch by Blake Kennedy from Burdick to increase Lennard's lead to 21-0 with 46 seconds before halftime. ...more

Durant went into halftime ahead 13-6 against Class 6A-District 6 opponent Sarasota, with the running game led by junior running back Ryan Rice looking strong. However, before play could resume, the lights were literally turned out on the game. Lightning forced a suspension of the game at 10:05 Friday night after two attempts to get the players back on the field.
