A fire broke out this morning on the second floor of a building that houses residents 55 and older, prompting authorities to evacuate about 20 people, fire officials said. No residents in the building were injured, Capt. K. Larry Thompson of Lealman Fire District said. Sheriff's investigators are looking into what they believe are related incidents of vandalism in the Lake Padgett Estates neighborhood. The latest to report damage is Robert Lovering, a lieutenant with the Tampa Police Department who lives in the neighborhood. Lovering told a Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputy that someone used golf balls to dent the front of his police vehicle while it was parked outside his house Sunday morning. ...more
