TAMPA - Former Tampa Mayor Dick Greco, who served four terms in city hall, has truly become a fixture of downtown. A statue of Greco, seated on a bench at the southern streetcar terminal in front of the Tampa Marriott Waterside, will be unveiled this afternoon. Ron Rotella of the Westshore Alliance said the real Greco will be attending the event. TAMPA - Between Monday and Thursday, an Orlando man at the Tampa Airport Marriott racked up room charges, honor bar fees, a bar tab at the hotel lounge, movies charges, phone bills and more. The problem was he wasn't a hotel guest, according to airport police. Raymond Theodore Terry Jr., 39, was arrested Thursday and charged with 10 counts of felony petty theft, four counts of defrauding an innkeeper, fraudulent use of personal information and forgery. ...more

DOWNTOWN - The 6.3-acre Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park, next the Tampa Marriott Waterside along Garrison Channel, could receive funding for its final phase. The city council will be asked Thursday to approve more than $2.8 million for the project, parks and recreation director Karen Palus said. The work includes adding 600 linear feet to the city's Riverwalk, and creating a Heroes Plaza to honor firefighters, law enforcement officers, rescue workers and military personnel killed in the line of duty. ...more
