My thanks to Martha and Claudia Olivares for inviting me to the Montessori Children's Year End Step Up and Graduation Ceremony. There were 21 children who will be going on to another school. Every time I am lucky enough to attend one of these affairs I am amazed! They dance, sing and do sign language. I don't remember anyone in my past school years being this bright. The dedicated teachers, volunteers, and Mr. Filip, the music teacher who directed and produced this awesome program with great patience and care for so many children. ...more

SEBRING — It came as a surprise. After Martha Visbing suffered a stroke, she ended up in the Kenilworth Care & Rehab Center in Sebring. Left home alone was husband Glenn Visbing. As he has for two years, Glenn visits his wife most evenings. He said he misses "everything" about living under the same roof. ...more

A "can-do" spirit will permeate Canstruction. The newly created competition will see professionals build sculptures from canned foods as part of a drive to help feed the needy in Pasco County. Architects and engineers will compete to build the colossal canned-goods sculptures and then let the public vote on which one they like best.
