A Riverview man is charged with felony child abuse, accused of choking his daughter during a fight over the family dogs, an affidavit states. Earaj Mirzavand, 49, was held without bail at the Orient Road jail today. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested him about 10:20 p.m. Friday at his home in the 11000 block of Black Forest Trail, records show. According to the affidavit, Mirzavand and his daughter got into an argument about the dogs that escalated when he pushed her into a wall, causing her to lose consciousness. Mirzavand then straddled his daughter and strangled her, the affidavit states. The document does not list the daughter's age. Mirzavand told deputies that his daughter had punched him in the nose, but another daughter corroborated the daughter's account, the affidavit states.
