TAMPA BAY AREA Airport Sets Record Tampa International Airport set a record with 9.58 million passenger departures in 2007, up 1.5 percent compared with 2006, despite a year-end decline airport officials attributed to an economic downturn. Southwest Airlines remained the airport's leading carrier with 27.8 percent market share, followed by Delta Air Lines, US Airways, Continental Airlines and American Airlines. Tampa International Airport ranked No. 1 nationwide in the 2007 Zagat Survey regardingquality of service factors in a poll of 7,498 frequent fliers. The Denver and Minneapolis-St. Paul airports tied for second, Orlando was fourth and Detroit was fifth. New York's LaGuardia Airport finished last, with Miami next to last.
