I read with interest the article 'A Distant War Hits Home' (Commentary, Sept. 16). Most of the writers commented on how unaffected they are by the War on Terror; however, only one writer actually sought out a way to be involved. I don't know anyone personally who is serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, either. However, as an American who deeply appreciates the sacrifice the men and women of the military and their families make, I have found ways to be affected. ...more
