Michael E. Long loved history and had a special fondness for teaching his students about the Civil War and the Lincoln assassination. Somehow, he managed to do that without taking sides in the conflict that still sparks arguments more than 140 years after it was fought. "He was always objective," said Kelvin Faison, a friend and colleague of Long's at Pasco-Hernando Community College. "He was always intelligent that way." Shaun King is no stranger to Tampa Bay area football fans. He played at Gibbs High in St. Petersburg and became the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. King currently is out of football and working for ESPN as a professional football analyst. His duties include being a part-time color analyst during ESPN's Monday night Arena Football League telecasts. King was in town Monday for the Tampa Bay Storm's game against the Chicago Rush. ...more

SEBRING — Fried green bean sticks are described by Keith Schroeder as "awesome and addictive." Although not available yet at Hungry Howie's Pizza and Sub Buffet in Sebring, they will be soon. Schroeder, who owns the eatery with his wife, Donna, and father, Mike, is expanding the menu. They are also putting a bar in the restaurant located in the Sebring Plaza shopping center.
