By RONNIE BLAIR The Tampa Tribune LAND O' LAKES Moon Lake Elementary is about to get a new principal for the second time in less than five months. Cara Allen, principal at Giella Elementary, will transfer Aug. 10 to take over the leadership role at Moon Lake. The Pasco County School Board approved Allen's appointment Tuesday evening. She succeeds Susan Barcellino, who came to Pasco County from Collier County in March to take the Moon Lake principal job. Barcellino has resigned because she is moving back to Collier County to resume working for the school district there. The district has not yet chosen a new principal for Giella Elementary. Allen is a veteran educator and administrator. She began her career in 1984 as a teacher in Hernando County, according to a school district memorandum. In 1994, she was hired as an assistant principal at Gulfside Elementary and later also served as an assistant principal at Sand Pine Elementary. She became principal at Giella Elementary in 2001. Allen holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey and a master's degree in education from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. ...more
