While Sebring High School baseball players are relishing in advancing to the regional finals in Class 4-A for the second consecutive year, the school's soccer players – as well as those in Avon Park and Hardee County – are wondering if they will even have a season next year. There is a desperate need for referees as a result of the Central Florida Ridge Soccer Officials Association announcing that it no longer has the manpower to accommodate both Polk and Highlands counties in the next school year. SEBRING — Next school year, some high school students will be able to have "safe" e-mail accounts courtesy of the School Board of Highlands County. The school board approved a contract recently with Gaggle.Net, a Web-based hosted e-mail service for K-12 education. The FHSAA officially announced it will discontinue the boys fall soccer series because it could not meet the mandated 48 teams required to continue the series as set forth by the board of directors on Nov. 19.
