TAMPA -- The shrinking media industry is taking another local hit with the dismissal of Mace Michaels, who has been a meteorologist with WFLA, Channel 8 since 2000. Michaels does the weekend weather reports at 6 and 11 p.m. and works on weather-related stories during the week. DOWNTOWN - The 6.3-acre Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park, next the Tampa Marriott Waterside along Garrison Channel, could receive funding for its final phase. The city council will be asked Thursday to approve more than $2.8 million for the project, parks and recreation director Karen Palus said.
