TEMPLE TERRACE - Ken DeVane is no longer a member of the city's municipal code enforcement board. On Tuesday, the third-term board member resigned during a joint work session of the code enforcement board, city council and Mayor Joe Affronti. His action followed his allegation that council members disregarded the code enforcement board's recommendation of a $22,350 noncompliance fine in a case that involved Gaspar's Patio Bar & Grille. I'm sure by now everybody has seen the beating of the Polk County teenage girl on TV or read about it in the newspaper. What is underlying this matter is the blatant disrespect and lack of consequences these and other young people have today in this society. SEBRING – A review of the past year, a look ahead at the year ahead and the presentation of awards were the order of business during the Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce's annual banquet Friday night at the Restoration Center.
