In response to Mr. Streeter's recent letter, I do not believe that Halliburton sets the price of oil. I believe the oil cartel does that. The reason that Halliburton pumps the oil is that they are the most qualified company in the Mideast to do so. If President Bush had not sent our troops to Iraq, Saddam would still be in power, raping and killing his own people, as he had done for many years. In addition, he would be ever more dangerous. I thought that price gouging was supposed to be illegal? The price of oil is set by Halliburton, and the rest of the oil cartel, not by the Iraqis, or Saudi Arabia. So why hasn't our elected officials done anything to stop this fleecing of the people? Or are they all bought off by the oil cartel to look the other way? That's just another example of greed and corruption within free enterprise. This is why I am voting all incumbents out of office. Maybe some day our corrupt politicians will get the message that the people are fed up with their corrupt cronyism. ...more
