AVON PARK — Former SFCC Panther and current Toronto Blue Jay pitcher Jesse Litsch returned to his old stomping grounds on Friday evening, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch on opening day against St. Petersburg College. Litsch, who graduated from SFCC and was named Florida Pitcher of the Year in 2004, signed autographs and took pictures with many of the same fans who came out to cheer him on when he was striking opposing batters out on a much smaller stage. Those words echoed from the Sebring boys basketball bench, as senior forward Sam Robinson gave the orders to his team and went on to score six points late in the game to lift the Streaks to a 44-41 comeback win over the Kissimmee Gateway Panthers in the second round of the Jim Taveniere Holiday Tournament on Friday. The Hillsborough County school board is scheduled to vote on the name at its meeting at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
