AVON PARK — An Avon Park man remained in Highlands County Jail on $5,250 bond, after sheriff's deputies reportedly had to zap him with a Taser when he resisted arrest after a car chase. Eddie Baez, 37, of 336 W. Mandan Road, was booked June 13 on charges of fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer with disregard to the safety of persons or property, battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief $200 or more but less than $1,000, trespassing and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence. SEBRING — A Sebring man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $85,000 bond Tuesday after he was arrested as a suspect in an armed robbery near Mandy Circle and Savannah Circle in Sebring. Jamal Shasid Daniels, 37, of 247 Mandy Circle, was charged with one count of armed robbery with a knife and petty theft first offense. SEBRING — A Sebring man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $15,250 bond, after sheriff's investigators say he burglarized his aunt's Leisure Lakes home three times by crawling through her doggie door. Michael Wayne Britt, 31, of 2105 U.S. 27 S., Lot 339, was charged with three counts of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and one count of petty theft first offense. According to sheriff's deputy Michael Weed's report, between May 8 and May 26, Britt pushed his 6-foot 150 pound frame through a doggie door in the rear of a home belonging to his aunt in the 900 block of Wildflower Street in Leisure Lakes. ...more

TAMPA - Between Monday and Thursday, an Orlando man at the Tampa Airport Marriott racked up room charges, honor bar fees, a bar tab at the hotel lounge, movies charges, phone bills and more. The problem was he wasn't a hotel guest, according to airport police. Raymond Theodore Terry Jr., 39, was arrested Thursday and charged with 10 counts of felony petty theft, four counts of defrauding an innkeeper, fraudulent use of personal information and forgery. ...more

SEBRING — A Haines City man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $29,750 bond after he was arrested and charged in three separate burglary cases in the Sebring area. Jason Richard Boone, 30, of 280 Dyson Road, arrested on warrants and charged with two counts of burglary of a structure or conveyance, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of vehicle theft, one count of burglary of a dwelling and one count of petty theft. On May 21, he was extradited from the Polk County Jail to Highlands County. Detectives say that between the hours of 3 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Oct. 20, Boone entered three Sebring properties, one in the 6000 block of North Carolina Drive and two in the 700 and 800 block of Town and Country Boulevard. ...more
