8:40 a.m.: Would-be voter Robert Clemente says he is not impressed by assurances that there will not be any problems at the Precinct 43 polling location in Holiday. "I arrived at 7:50 a.m. and about 15 people were standing outside on the sidewalk," says Clemente. "Someone came up to me and said the polling place is closed, you can't vote now. I asked why. He said that they got the wrong component for the machine. I asked when I could vote. He said come back in about 20 minutes." ...more

This election cycle, all voters will be "on their mark" using the new legislative-mandated optical scan voting equipment that replaces the touch-screen voting machines. Voters will mark paper ballots they feed through optical scanners before exiting the polls.
