In honor of Mother's Day, moms got free access to Lowry Park Zoo on Sunday as long as they were accompanied by a paying son or daughter, giving visiting mothers the chance to check out some of the new animal moms and their offspring. On Feb. 21, the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, C.E. Mendez Foundation and University of Tampa hosted the 19th running of the Too Good For Drugs Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic at the university's Art & Polly Pepin Stadium. The event is for children ages 2 to 10, and rather than being a competition, the run focuses on participation and education. Every child received the number 1 as their race number, a race packet full of goodies, a Too Good For Drugs Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic Race T-shirt and, after crossing the finish line, a Finisher's Medal.
