Regarding Miles Lambert and his recent arrest for soliciting for the Lions Club at the Lake Placid Post Office, I will start with the premise that the government is generally unreasonable. It is apparent that precedence was established as this was not the first time he or the Lions Club solicited contributions at this facility. I have experienced similar unreasonable behavior for putting business cards in the sacred mail box. ...more

A few months ago, I warned that some folks were attempting to misuse health care reform to restrict access to abortion. They have come a long way since then, endangering the vital struggle for health care — indeed, torpedoing reform is a key goal for many involved in this effort. ...more

I encourage the rejection of the Copenhagen Treaty. Its premise is flawed. It places burdens on the United States while allowing other industrial countries, like China and India, to remain unrestricted. Even if enacted, the science is inconclusive whether this would cease climate change. ...more

A generally accepted premise is expecting different results from the same behavior is completely irrational. During the Reagan administration, David Stockman, Reagan's budget director, persuaded the Republicans to embrace the concepts of supply side economics and the theory that if the top earners earn more it will "trickle down" to the rest of the economy. To achieve this result, major tax cuts for those in the highest tax brackets were implemented, with the result that the national debt was doubled during the Reagan years. ...more
