Americans who are interested in making a government for the people must vote this year for no one holding public office. This should be a year for starting a campaign to vote everyone from city, county, state and federal officials out of office and start a new slate. It is apparent that they are not representing the people. Once elected, public officials think they have a lifetime job and apparently once in office, they gain so much power and money that it is almost impossible to vote them out of office. That is the reason I am advocating re-elect no one. I will make one exception to that rule. Charles Bryan, the Highlands County tax collector. ...more

SEBRING –– Highlands County's two longest serving public officials, one elected and the other appointed, are speaking out strongly against Amendment 1 on Tuesday's primary election ballot. "It doesn't fix the problem; it is not tax reform for the long term ... and it's just a Band Aid when what we need is complete major surgery on the way in which we tax property in Florida," said Guy Maxcy. With 16 years and counting on the county commission, he is by far the longest serving current county commissioner. "I am going to vote 'no' on this proposed state amendment because the amendment, as Commissioner Maxcy put it, is an attempt to take some options away from local government," said Carl Cool. "And, all of the inequities in the current property tax situation, this amendment would only increase and expand those inequities." ...more

LAKE PLACID — Every 16-year-old driver's education student is taught the basics, including stop for all active railroad crossings. But on the night of Tuesday, Nov. 13, several frustrated drivers ignored the red flashing lights and loud clanging, and skirted past the downed safety arms while crossing the tracks on Interlake Boulevard, just east of DeVane Park. Fortunately on that evening, and at least 10 times during the past four months, the CSX-controlled signals malfunctioned, and no train rolled through the Interlake Boulevard intersection. Several public officials and council members were caught at the false alarm following the evening's special town council meeting, including Arlene Tuck, town clerk. ...more

America is heading down the road toward world government, a world without borders. We are almost there, most all of our public officials are promoting it behind closed doors, with secret meetings they claim they know best. Those in both parties running for public office in 2008 are promoting open borders and the use of many languages, a world government with no borders. They plan on giving all illegals, foreign nationals from all over the world, citizenship and the right to vote. A voice in American government, a voice the American working class does not have. We know we have been sold out by this two-party system, the base that controls this two-party system has used the American tax dollars to relocate all over the world, to violate our trade policies and our Constitution, to completely ignore the will of the people. ...more
