A Spring Hill woman was arrested Tuesday on charges that she locked a teenage boy in a bathroom for two years and beat him with a plank of wood. I would like to recommend Susan Benton to be re-elected as sheriff of Highlands County. While in office she has brought her department into the 21st century. She has made officers more accessible to the public and she is intelligent and articulate. It's refreshing to have a sheriff who isn't a "good old boy," no pun intended. ...more

I can't believe that two purportedly professional people of Highlands County are having a public catfight, and worse yet, they are bringing it into the courts. Regarding the movie "Saw 4" playing in Sebring: Saw movies are rated R, am I correct? Saw movies are high is gore, blood, violence and the like, correct? It is almost overkill at points, right? (no pun intended) Why in God's name would you take your 3- to 5-year-old babies to that movie? Why would the theater allow them to enter to watch that movie? ...more
