The Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics chain HHGregg is finishing its first local store in the Market Square shopping center near Interstate 75 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in New Tampa. It's also scouting other potential store sites around the Bay area, but hasn't yet committed to any other new stores other than one in Sarasota. Some bright spots punctuated the gallows humor running through a convention of shopping center executives today: A few pizza restaurants, dental practices and discount retailers are expanding aggressively in the Tampa Bay area. Those with plans to grow took the spotlight during the gathering of shopping center owners, retail real estate brokers and retailers at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay in Rocky Point. etailer will be opening its Avon Park store later than originally expected, while the much anticipated opening of Olive Garden in Sebring might be a bit sooner than scheduled. The Wal-Mart store and Olive Garden are among several businesses in Highlands County that will be opening or relocating in 2008.
