SEBRING — By 2 p.m., almost 29 percent of Highlands County's registered voters had gone to the polls, which impressed officials of both political parties. "I think that's impressive," said Marian Perrin, who serves on the Democratic steering committee. Highlands County has 63,118 registered voters. Thousands of people in Highlands County, apparently in record numbers, took advantage of early voting and cast their ballots. That's good because it reduces the number of people who show up on election day, which reduces congestion at the precincts. The Presidential Preference Primary Election is Tuesday.
