In a bizarre drive-by targeting the homeless, the occupants of a car early this morning threw containers of acid at a group of people who were sleeping outside the St. Vincent de Paul Society soup kitchen. One of the hurled plastic containers struck a stop sign outside the food center at 401 15th St. N., and its contents spewed onto a blanket under which a 44-year-old woman was sleeping, said St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Proffitt.
