Outspoken sports radio host Dan Sileo was back on the air this morning, a week after he was suspended by WDAE, 620 AM, and the station retracted his report about the finances of the Glazer family. On Oct. 29, Sileo quoted a "friend" who works with the Securities and Exchange Commission as saying the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' owners lost $440 million in the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme. Raymond James Financial Inc. said it had no history of marketing Madoff Investment Securities and no known exposure to the alleged Ponzi scheme that may cost investors billions of dollars. The St. Petersburg-based financial services company responded in a news release to a CNBC report on Friday that the brokerage had marketed funds in which Madoff was involved. ...more

Regarding "Shake China's Hand, But Arm Taiwan" (Our Opinion, Aug. 12): In the editorial you used the term "reunite" when talking about China invading Taiwan. Imperial China deeded Taiwan to Japan in 1895 in a legal and binding treaty, the Treaty of Shimonoseki. Following World War II, the Japanese were removed from Taiwan as a condition of their defeat, but the legal retraction of ownership was not until 1952. During this time Taiwan was administered under United Nations jurisdiction by the ROC government; however, Taiwan was never returned/deeded back to the Chinese government but left in an independent state. ...more
