TAMPA A 20-year-old woman was arrested Friday night on a child neglect charge after authorities said she left her crying, 22-month-old son alone in a car while she chatted with a friend inside an apartment. Ashley Marie Stoneking, of 8812 Moran Lane, was being held at Orient Road jail today on $7,500 bail, records showed. According to a criminal report affidavit, Stoneking left her son fastened in a car seat with the engine off about 10 p.m. at an apartment complex at 4542 Sand Pointe Pl. A security officer observed the child crying and a dog jumping on top of him, the affidavit reads. A Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy responded and saw Stoneking inside an apartment talking on the couch with friends, the affidavit reads. Stoneking admitted to leaving her son alone without supervision for 18 minutes, the affidavit reads. ...more
