WESLEY CHAPEL Fashion expert Clinton Kelly will offer advice to shoppers on Sunday as part of the grand opening of Macy's new store at The Shops at Wiregrass at the mall at State Road 56 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard. Kelly is a star of TLC's "What Not to Wear," which every week offers a $5,000 fashion makeover to a woman – and the occasional man. Kelly is part of Macy's newest marketing campaign. He'll be featured during an in-store presentation at 2 p.m., according to Macy's spokeswoman Carrie Hall. For the past three years, Kelly has traveled the country offering his blend of fashion expertise, style secrets and self-confidence counseling at events in Macy's stores. Kelly's fashion advice will focus on how to wear jeans, black pants, dresses and other basic pieces in a variety of different ways. He'll talk about how people can update their looks stylishly on a budget by matching classic pieces with accessories. Seats for the event are limited. But after Tuesday, there could be some drastic changes. Linens Holdings Co., the New Jersey-based corporation that owns the 33-year-old retailer, filed for protection in federal bankruptcy court in May and has settled on a plan to auction off all of the business's inventory. ...more

It could be a glum holiday season for retailers because shoppers are expected to keep a lid on how much they spend, the National Retail Federation predicts. This week, the industry group said it forecasts holiday spending to grow by just 2.2 percent this year over last year to a total of $470.4 billion.
