A lot of people blame George Bush for all our country's problems, but we are the ones to blame, being as we elected him two times. We the people just keep on electing the same U.S. senators over and over again; some of these senators have been in office four to six times. When are we going to wise up? No one disputes who shot and killed Joseph Martell. Investigators say Max Wesley Horn Jr. shot Martell six times with a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun on March 29 during the annual Chasco Fiesta. Horn's attorney, Keith Hammond, admits his client shot Martell and then told investigators which hand he used so a gunshot residue test could be done. ...more

LAKE PLACID — A Lake Placid man remained in Highlands County Jail without bond Monday on a charge of attempted second-degree murder in the May 11 shooting of a Lake Placid man. Sheriff's investigators arrested Matwain Donyel Bryant, 24, of 149 Zion St., a suspect in the shooting of Sherman Murray Wyche, 26, who was shot six times in the leg and back outside of the Highway Park Liquors, located at 101 Vision St. near Crestmore Drive, in the Highway Park subdivision. "Due to the number of shots fired, it is apparent the perpetrator was attempting to kill the victim," the arrest report stated. ...more
