Bank of America, a recipient of part of the $700 billion bailout funded by taxpayers like you and me, spent an estimated $20 million sending its corporate executives to the big game. It included a $3.5 million pre-game festivity, tickets to the game (in a private corporation box. complete with food and wet bar) and an estimated $10 million post game party. They would not release the names of any of the employees who attended, and said that they were not required to do so because they are a sponsor of the NFL. The Great Depression was not caused by business failure; it was a financial downturn that was mitigated by the government's reactionary and blundering response to the situation. This resembles our situation today. Our government has not learned a thing from history, and it is on the verge of plunging us into another economic disaster because Congress doesn't have enough sense to study in depth and debate the pros and cons of bills that come before them.
