In today's world where top executives keep subtracting, Beall's Department Store at the Mall provides free gift wrapping. The loaf of specialty bread that was $2.50 last year is now $3.50, and people who are used to good ingredients immediately know something has been tampered with. By the way, the loaves are smaller too. At Beall's, cheerful ladies are busy wrapping while customers wait patiently in line, exchanging smiles and bits of conversation. Let me be the first to say a huge thank you to the Miracle League of Lake Placid. This baseball league allows children, young adults, and adults , with disabilities, to play baseball. A "Meet and Greet" was held on Saturday, Oct. 6. The games start on Oct. 13. Upon arrival, we were met by a group of baseball players from SFCC. The team and coach were there to pitch, run and just help whenever someone needed them. The number of young people who were there as buddies, volunteers and coaches was overwhelming.
