Regarding "2 Commissioners Urge Parks Merger" (Feb. 4): Mayor Iorio is correct to be concerned at merging parks with the county. This is the same county commission that excluded city residents from the transit committee that almost shifted the transit tax only to city residents, wants to reduce the city's voice on the Tampa Sports Authority while keeping us off the Environmental Protection Commission, withheld funds to fix the Tampa Convention Center roof and often ridicules our city government. ...more

I thought your Jan. 17 article "Official Demoted For Accepting Gift" (Metro) was interesting. It appears Carlos Llerandi, a Tampa Fire Rescue fire inspector, accepted a free hockey ticket during the 2003-04 season. He attended the game and now his acceptance is considered "inappropriate." ...more
