BRADEN RIVER — Sebring took out a season full of frustration on Braden River on Friday night, as a swarming defense forced five turnovers and quarterback Steven Fortner threw two touchdown passes to lead the Blue Streaks to a 23-0 victory over the Pirates. The Class 3A-District 12 win improved Sebring to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in district play, and kept alive its playoff hopes. "This was a big win for us," said Sebring coach Jared Hamlin. The Bucs gained 39 yards on their second, third and fourth plays from scrimmage, but an incomplete pass and a sack of Jeff Garcia forced them to punt from their 44 at the end of their first drive. The Bucs didn't succeed in getting the ball away. Corey Smith cut through the middle and easily blocked the kick. When Casey FitzSimmons fell on it at the Bucs' 39, the stage was set for the Lions' first score, a 34-yard Jason Hanson field goal that came six plays later. ...more

The Bucs faced their first real offensive challenge of the game just three plays into it when they lined up for a third-and-6 play at their 28-yard line. Quarterback Jeff Garcia dropped back to pass, but he never got the time to set up and throw as Dwight Freeney and Raheem Brock came rushing through the right side off a stunt to sack him 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Eight plays later, the Colts were ahead 7-0, the result of a seven-play drive engineered by Peyton Manning.
