Proud homeowners who live along and contiguous to the Gasparilla Parade route told the audience in detail of the depravity, lawlessness, vulgarity and criminal activity that goes on while the colorful and popular parade passes by. On Feb. 21, the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, C.E. Mendez Foundation and University of Tampa hosted the 19th running of the Too Good For Drugs Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic at the university's Art & Polly Pepin Stadium. The event is for children ages 2 to 10, and rather than being a competition, the run focuses on participation and education. Every child received the number 1 as their race number, a race packet full of goodies, a Too Good For Drugs Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic Race T-shirt and, after crossing the finish line, a Finisher's Medal.
