SEBRING — The waterfall of cheers and tears cascaded over the Sebring High School gym on Wednesday. Cheers were heard after the final point was won by the No. 3 -seeded Braden River Pirates and the joyous celebration ensued, while the tears of a bitter loss stung into the girls of the second-seeded Sebring volleyball team, after the Blue Streaks were swept (25-21, 25-21, 25-19) in the semifinals of the Class 4A-District 10 volleyball tournament. SEBRING — Ashley Waldon isn't hesitating, and the Sebring volleyball team isn't slowing down for anyone. The senior setter, making her first start since an on-court collision with teammate Anna West sidelined her for the remainder of the regular season, got her bearings back while Sebring got back on track, as the Streaks cruised to a 25-9, 25-6, 25-8 victory over Booker in the opening match of the Class 4A-District 10 volleyball tournament at SHS. "I was definitely a little bit scared when I came back against Lake Placid," said Waldon, who played the final two sets of Sebring's last match of the regular season, a three-set loss to the Class 3A Green Dragons. AVON PARK – Sarah Tickner and the Braden River volleyball team didn't want to open their postseason run with defending district champion DeSoto. They'd rather save the Bulldogs for the finals. Plant defeated Atlanta Woodward 26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19 as the Panthers finished fifth in the 15th annual Berkeley Premier Volleyball tournament. The two-day tournament had five Tampa area volleyball teams competing in the 16-team tournament. ...more
