The Fort Dade Mountainman Rendezvous will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Sunday at the Withlacoochee River Park east of Dade City, off River Road. The public is invited to attend the event to learn how people lived in the early 19th century. The cost is $2 per person or $5 per car. Children ages 12 and younger are free. Dock Green Silverhawk hopes to see 2,000 friends this weekend. Last year, about 1,800 people attended his annual Silverhawk Native American Flute Gathering, an event that started in his Plant City backyard five years ago. Although Silverhawk, who is part Creek and part Cherokee, has enough land for horses to graze on, the event soon became too popular for his limited acreage. ...more
