The Tampa Bay area is finally felling December-like weather after a slow-moving cold front arrived early this morning.
But don't expect the cool air to stick around long, said News Channel 8 meteorologist Brooks Garner.
"If you like warm weather, this weekend looks great," Garner said.
Some lingering clouds from the front will stay in the area until about 2 p.m. when the skies start to clear, Garner said.
Unfortunately, the clouds will return this evening, which could block a view of the Geminid meteor shower, considered to be one of the year's best shows for sky-watchers, Garner said.
Tampa viewers will have a better chance to see the meteor shower just after midnight on Friday and Saturday if they look east for the constellation Gemini, almost overhead.
Temperatures will drop tonight into the mid-50s but will climb to the mid- to upper-70s Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Low temperatures for the weekend will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
