8:15 a.m. County administrator Pat Bean says the state of emergency in Hillsborough has been lifted and the mandatory evacuations for mobile homes and voluntary evacuations of low-lying areas has been cancelled.

"We've been blessed again," she says. "We are just as pleased as we can be."

He said schools are government offices are still closed today but will reopen tomorrow. Shelters will not be open.

Hillsborough Emergency Management Director Larry Gispert said today they made the decision to close schools and government offices Monday at noon based on the Tropical Storm Fay's track and forecast of 60 mph winds and possible storm surge.

By the 5 a.m., the track of the storm had changed and now Fay is heading toward the Polk-Osceola county line, about 80 miles east of the Bay area.

We had everything cocked and ready to go, " he said this morning.

He said today is going to be a typical summer day with storms and encouraged residents to store any supplies they've accumulated because, he said, "we still have three months left of hurricane season."
