This is Florida?
It was 35 degrees at Tampa International Airport shortly before 5 a.m. and the wind chill made it feel more like 27 degrees. The wind was blowing 20 miles per hour and the gusty weather will keep temperatures low all day.
The wind chill is making it feel like it's between 18 and 30 degrees in some parts of the Bay area. Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Polk, Hillsborough, Highlands, Hardee and Manatee counties are all under a hard freeze warning. That means sub-freezing temperatures are possible for eight hours. The warning ends at 9 a.m.
Those kinds of temperatures can kill crops and sensitive plants. Farmers have turned on their sprinklers to create a layer of ice on their crops and hopefully protect them.
It's only barely warmer along the beaches. Pinellas and Sarasota counties are under a freeze warning this morning, which means freezing temperatures are possible for four hours.
Today's highs will be in the lower 50s. It should be warmer on Friday, with temperatures reaching the mid-60s by Friday afternoon, forecasters said.
