You can't escape the heat

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Whether it was exercising on Bayshore Boulevard or working outside, staying cool was a hard thing to do Monday. And when the humidity is high like this, the "feels-like" temperatures can be almost unbearable.

For most afternoons this week, the humidity is going to push the heat index past the 100-degree point.

The string of hot and fairly dry days should continue through the workweek as high pressure continues to control the weather in the Bay area.

That high pressure is bringing winds from the west over the state. Those winds haul plenty of moisture (making things so muggy), and they push any storms that form toward the central and eastern parts of the state.

The high pressure is also delaying the start of our summer afternoon rain pattern. For the typical rains in June through August, high pressure needs to camp in the Atlantic Ocean and send winds from the east to create the sea breeze collision that sets off the storms. WEATHER, Page 12
