The Tampa Bay area will see rain for the rest of the evening as a strong line of storms moves in off of the Gulf of Mexico.
The band of storms crosses the area with heavy rain occurring from Clearwater to Lutz and up into Zephyhills.
Most of the lightning strikes are in the Gulf of Mexico.
The storms are moving northeast at 25 mph.
Another area of storms affected much of Citrus and northern Sumter counties.
Some areas may receive rainfall of 1 inch per hour accompanied by strong winds gusting to 30 mph.
Boaters should be prepared for rough seas.
There is a chance some thunderstorms could be part of the approaching front that is expected to stall over Central Florida later and hang around into the week. There is a chance of occasional thunderstorms popping up on Monday, also.
The stalled front will have enough moisture to keep rain chances in the 20 percent to 30 percent range through Thursday when a cold front arrives.
Forecasters expect cooler and drier air behind the front to drop temperatures into the 50s overnight and keep daytime highs Friday and Saturday below 70. Morning low temperatures could dip into the 40s in Hernando County.
